A Guide to Qualification Product Codes
Our new product codes are not just unique identifying codes for your qualifications and units.
They also tell a story about the qualification and unit.
Qualification Product Code
Codes can be broken down into 5 parts:
1. Whether the qualification is predominately iTEC or VTCT branding
a. If it is iTEC it will start will an ‘i’
2. Then what sector the qualification predominately falls under
a. BT – Beauty Therapy
b. CT – Complementary Therapy
c. HB – Hairdressing and Barbering
d. SP – Sport, Active Health and Leisure
e. CO – Combined sectors for instance Hair and Beauty
3. What level the qualification is
a. 1 – Level 1
b. 2 – Level 2
c. 3 – Level 3
d. 4 – Level 4
4. Whether the qualification type is an award, certificate or diploma
a. A – Award
b. C – Certificate
c. D – Diploma
5. And finally a number which runs consecutively on from previous qualifications, to uniquely identify qualifications which have the same sector, level, qualification type.

Unit Product Code
For unit product codes, these can be broken down to 4 parts:
1. Whether the unit is branded as iTEC or VTCT
a. If it is iTEC it will start will an ‘i’
2. Then what sector the unit predominately falls under
a. UBT – Beauty Therapy
b. UCT – Complementary Therapy
c. UHB – Hairdressing and Barbering
d. USP – Sport, Active Health and Leisure
e. UCO – Combined sectors for instance Hair and Beauty
3. A number which runs consecutively on from previous units, to uniquely identify units which have the same brand and sector.
4. Whether the unit sits in graded qualifications as both a mandatory and optional unit. This must be differentiated.
a. M – A mandatory version of the unit which contributes to the overall grade
b. X – An optional version of the unit which does not contribute to the overall grade but has to be achieved to pass the qualification
