Hospitality and Catering Technical Qualifications
For Advent Calendar Day 8, we are exploring the Hospitality and Catering sector as we take a look at the VTCT Technical Certificates and Technical Level Qualifications.
The following qualifications are all aimed at 16-19 year-olds and are eligible for performance table reporting. Learners who want to improve their knowledge of the industry with a view to a long term career in hospitality and catering are ideally placed to take these courses.
Technical Certificates:
Technical Level Qualifications (TLQ):
- VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Professional Cookery
- VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Professional Patisserie and Confectionery
For those learners with previous qualifications (e.g. a Level 2 in Hospitality or Catering), this may enable you to start at Level 3 (subject to entry requirements). Click the information sheet to learn more about this range of qualifications.
The hospitality industry is a rewarding and satisfying one. It is always developing and growing in terms of its size, scope and relevance.
Hospitality spans a number of sectors, which enables learners to develop skills which are universal, transferable and also enhance their life skills. For example, learners may wish to qualify as a front of house member of staff, and late transfer to another department – sometimes within the same establishment.
Please visit our career pathway page to see the range of career options that are available through our qualifications. We’ll also have some careers in the hospitality and catering sector in the advent calendar, still to come, so make sure you keep following to learn about these.
This suite of qualifications is awarded through VTCT, you can learn more about the qualifications and find approved centres by visiting the ‘Find a Qualification’ section here.
If you are an iTEC training provider and are interested in delivering these qualifications, it couldn’t be easier to be able to do so. Contact your iTEC Centre Contact to find out how to become dual approved.
